You don't need to get fancy, expensive equipment to improve your fitness. Walking is an example way to get physical activity that is available to almost everyone. A large factor in functional fitness is flexibility - and staying active can help. Gymnasiums which would seem familiar today began to become increasingly common in the 19th century. Additional health benefits may be achieved by engaging in more than 300 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity per week. The HHS guidelines also note that doing more than those quantities of activity will yield additional health benefits. And the guidelines recommend that adults do muscle-strengthening exercises for all the major muscle groups at least two days per week. Achieving resilience through physical fitness promotes a vast and complex range of health-relat
